The Official Keeping Up Appearances Fan Club & Forum
Welcome to the Bucket residence (that is pronounced 'Bouquet'). To get full access to my house please log in or create an account, that way I will be assured that you are a truly superior person, who will not brush against my wallpaper! Don't forget to take your shoes off, as stains on my wood block flooring are a pain to remove.

By the way, Harold Snoad who is the director of Keeping Up Appearances, is our resident celebrity. That will show Mrs Barker-Finch who really has friends in high places!

Best Wishes,
Hyacinth Bucket

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Even Hyacinth might like me since I do take my shoes off before entering somebody's home. Very Happy It's a Swedish thing. We always (well, almost always) take our shoes off indoors. After a long, hot, sweaty day it might have been better if we'd kept them on instead. Laughing

Wilkommen Lillian (Hope that spelling is not too far off the mark!)

Check out Hyacinth's "Swedish" accent in the 'Charity Shop' episode and let us all know what you think! Very Happy

UFF DA
Actually that's Norwegian and it is as close to Sweden as you can get.

I was foreign born---Minnesota---and that's about as foreign as it gets in America. You can't swing a cat without hitting a Scandanavian in Minnesota.

Välkommen

Thank you Britannia and hamot! And yes, welcome is Välkommen in Swedish. As for Hyacinth's accent in the ep. Charity shop, she does put on a funny one when Mrs Nugent shows up at Daisy's house. That's the only scene I can think of. It sounds more like English with an Russian accent to me, though. I wish I had a sound file with my mother trying to speak English. Smile
